GenoME Diagnostics, an investee company within Deepbridge's Life Sciences SEIS portfolio has recently won a £50,000 award that is to be given to Shannon Beattie (CEO - GenoME Diagnostics) as part of the celebrations marking International Women’s Day on March 8th 2022, which will be used to aid early detection of ovarian cancer.

Every day within the United Kingdom, around 20 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Their condition is often well advanced before it is even detected, making their tumours difficult to treat.

However, if Belfast researcher Shannon Beattie is successful, it may be possible in the near future to make detecting of ovarian cancer much quicker and more accurately than today.

Shannon Beattie, CEO of GenoME Diagnostics, commented:

“Earlier detection of ovarian cancer would make a crucial difference in treating the disease, it would allow doctors to treat tumours when they are small and have not spread to other parts of the body. That makes it much easier to eradicate them.”
